Sanctuary Metodje
Veliko Metodje is dated back to the 3rd century and it was built to honor the Olympian Methodius, by the Romans. The church was recently renovated and has now reverted back to its old look. We can reach the church with an one hour hike. During the hike we enjoy unique landscapes, meadows, forests and rivers. We also encounter lead mines from the Roman era, the geyser, which is named Stefan Lazarevic in honor of the son of Prince Lazar. You can also rest and enjoy the nature in a number of kiosks situated throughout the route. Metodje is sanctuary from 3rd century. Dedicated to Metodije Olimpijski. The Romans are built the church, made of stone, which is, lately, remained as inheritance to the people from this region. The church has been, recently, reconstructed and rebuilt and now it looks like the church from the Romans time. To the church we can get combine (by transportation and walking), by transportation we can get there in 40 min. and walking last 1 hour. A footpath belongs to middle weight paths. On the way to Metodje, we can see a beautiful landscape of forest, clearings, river which comes forth in the foot of Gvozdac. Of course, there are mines which testify about former Romans presence, and geyser waterfall high about 10m. Townsmen are dedicated the geyser to the despot Stefan Lazarevic, the son of the duke Lazar. On the way are built many summer houses, so there are a lot of places where we can rest from walking, enjoying in the charm of mountain.
