Lepenac monastery

The monastery is located near Brus and was built in the 15th century. The monastery was built by the lord Stefan Lazarevic in honor of Saint Stefan. The church of Lepenac monastery constitutes one of the best samples of Morava's school of construction art. The 2 meter high, old walls are preserved to this day. We can reach the monastery by walking on the footpath that begins from the Rasina river and follows a 700 m route within the forest. Its base is the inscribed trefoil structure with priprata and the dome which stands on pillars. All apses of Lepenac Monastery are multi-sided from outside and semi-circular when you observe it from the inside of the church. One feature of Lepenac Monastery Church is very interesting - it is more than 20 m long what makes it one of the largest structures of Morava school of architecture. The earliest layers of Morava style of construction are preserved up to the level of 2 m.
